Seattle Center, Center House
Saturday-Monday, March 15-17, 2008

PERFORMER HIGHLIGHTS

Claddagh Irish Dancers
Performing in Seattle for the first time are dancers
from the Claddagh School of Irish Dancing who hail
from Ballyfermot, Co. Dublin. The school has dancers
from age three years up to our Senior Dancers some of
who are also in Training for their Teachers Examinations.
Their dancers compete in Feiseanna at least one per
month and the highlight is Our All Ireland Feis which
is held in June each year. Our class costume is Green,
White and Gold with the Claddagh emblems on it. The
motto of our dancing organisation is Cairde Damhsa
meaning dancing friends. The teacher is Elizabeth
O’Dempsey. For more information on the school, visit
www.claddaghschoolofirishdancing.com.

Rapparee
Rapparee founding members Mark Raney, Clyde Clevenger,
and Emily Keene are joined by family and friends from
4 different states during this now annual appearance.
The shows are a charming blend of the old and the new
in Irish music and culture. Whether it is your first
exposure to the tradition or you are an experienced
Celtophile, you will find yourself delighted and
enchanted by the performance. Tap your feet, clap
your hands, and of course, sing along. As always, an
emphasis on vocal harmonies is tastefully embroidered
with the brilliant accompaniment and interpretive
abilities of the groups’ multi-instrumentalists. The
broad range of talent in the group allows for on
stage adaptation to both the situation and the audience
that makes this the most versatile Irish band in the
region as well as one of the longest lived.

Rose Laughlin
Folk singer/guitarist, Rose Laughlin returns to her home
town of Seattle after being in Chicago since 2003
performing traditional Celtic and American Roots music.
Although these traditional songs are her first love,
there are many great songs from other genres that you
may hear her sing. After her critically acclaimed debut
album "Souvenir." she will soon be out with her second
album, "The Chicago Sessions," a compilation of many of
the songs she performed while in Chicago. Rose has
enjoyed the pursuit of her music, the many friends she
has made and the support she has received from them
both personally and professionally. For more
information, visit
www.roselaughlin.com.

The Boys of Greenwood Glen
This local band is very popular in local Irish
establishments as they explore the roots of American
music, Bluegrass, Old Time, and a lot o’ the Irish.
Ricky Gene Powell is the leader of the band, a multi-
instrumentalist on the Mandolin, Banjo, Guitar, Dobro,
Accordian, and vocals; Dan Good plays Bass and Vocals;
while James Rafferty plays Guitar, Harmonica and and
vocals. For more information, visit

The Muses -
Rebecca Trombly, Matthew Gurnsey and Tanya Brody.
Seeking the return of traditional Celtic folk songs
(and a stage overflowing with instruments & vibrancy),
The Muses breathe new life into a music that will never
die. Tanya Brody and Matthew Gurnsey each play a
plethora of exotic instruments ranging from bodhran &
concertina to harp & hammered dulcimer; psaltery,
pennywhistles and zils to name just a few. They are
joined by vocalist and guitarist Rebecca Trombly to
add new life to old songs as well as adding original
material to the Celtic repertoire. The Muses perform
with a ferocity and a strength of heart that embodies
the music they love so dearly. More information, visit
www.claddaghschoolofirishdancing.com.
