2008 GREEN STRIPE LAYING 7 - 8 PM, FRIDAY, MARCH 14 The Green Stripe is a mini-Parade to put a green stripe down the center of 4th Ave, to mark the route of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, and always takes place the night before the St. Patrick's Day Parade which in 2008 was on Saturday, March 15. The 2008 Green Stripe was painted on Friday, March 14, starting at 7 PM.
Participants gathered at F X McRory's at 6:30 PM to ride the Flat-bed Truck up to Prefontaine Park. There's no admission fee and children were very welcome!
The stripe runs from 4th Ave and Jefferson to Westlake Park, a distance of about one mile. Each year, anyone and everyone is invited to come along for the 'craic' – an Irish (Gaelic) word meaning “a lot of fun”.
