The Irish Heritage Club is a non-profit, non-political,
non-religious organization that organizes and promotes
activities of an Irish cultural nature in the Greater Seattle
area, the State of Washington, USA. These activities
include performances of Irish music, Irish dancing,
Irish language, Irish history, Gaelic games, and cultural
exchanges with our Sister City of Galway, Ireland. We
also sponsor concerts, plays, lectures, movies, parties and other social events.
2010 West Coast Tionól The Irish Pipers Club has their annual West Coast Traditional Irish music extravaganza, the West Coast Tionól, the weekend of February 13-14 at Seattle's St. Benedict School, 4811 Wallingford Ave N. Featured Uilleann Pipers include from Ireland Denis Brooks and Kevin Rowsome along with Seattle's Tom Creegan. Other great musicians include Randal Bays (fiddle), Leo MacNamara (flute & whistle), and Dave Cory (guitar & banjo). Music workshops, Irish Song and Language workshops will be held all day Saturday, and the Tionól Concert is Saturday night at 7:30 pm ($15.00 pp). 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal The Rt. Hon. Desmond Guinness The Rt. Hon. Desmond Guinness, the great, great, great, great grandson of Arthur Guinness who founded Guinness Brewery in Dublin over 250 years ago, has accepted the Irish Heritage Club's invitation to be Grand Marshal of Seattle's St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Notre Dame and Ireland
On November 5, 2009, the American Irish Historical Society in New York awarded its 2009 Gold Medal to Father John Jenkins, C.S.C., President of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN. Fr. Jenkins’ speech when he accepted the award is a wonderful statement of his and Notre Dame’s Irish heritage.
MASS OF REMEMBRANCE IN GAELIC Seattle's Irish community Mass of Remembrance in the Irish language was Friday, November 6, at Seattle's St. Patrick's Church. The Mass commemorated all deceased members of Seattle's Irish community and the names of those who passed awayin the previous 12 months were read out and remembered during the service.
Butte, America Documentary Film Over 350 people attended the screening of Butte, America at Seattle University on October 10. The screening was intoduced by former Montana Congressman Pat Williams and film Co-Writer Ed Dobb. Above following the SU screening are Finian Rowland, Ed Dobb, Danny Quinn and Pat Williams. Butte, America can also be seen nationwide on PBS (Channel 9 in Seattle) at 10 pm on October 20.
